The digital type foundry La Bolde Vita aims to create bold, eccentric and conceptual display typefaces
La Bolda Vita is the typedesign practice by Fabian Dornhecker from Leipzig, Germany. During his communication design studies, he came in contact with type design and has since fallen for the letters. In 2019 he founded La Bolde Vita as a label for his typefaces and typography-related freelance work. After several months it eventually grew into an independent type foundry — supplying designers around the globe with expressive and highly functional display fonts.
Practice
Born out of the love for letters, we strongly believe in the practice of independent publishing. Avoiding the big distributors comes with some limitations, but it also gives huge creative freedom. Not only can we define how to present and publish our typefaces with full control, but choose which fonts get drawn and released — independent of trends or a need for certain sales.
Motivation
We focus on display fonts with strong personality or conceptual experiments — trying to find new systems or break existing ones. This means you will find some very functional and solid typefaces in our catalogue that you may find in other places as well. But you may also come across experimental concepts that mostly exist because we love to make them reality.
