Our New Website just Launched

For the past five years, we’ve been running on the same website — patched up here and there, slightly extended where it needed to be, but still basically the same. It did its job well, but times change and standards evolve. On the 1st of September we finally relaunched and we’re really excited to share what’s new for you.

A Look Back

Our old site was something we built ourselves from scratch, and for a while it worked just fine. But it had its limits: Only PayPal payments, a very bare-bones checkout without space for extended license info and not much room for exploring our fonts as it should be. Most of the time you only got to see them in static images and vectors, which isn’t exactly how typefaces live and breathe. Technically, it also wasn’t always as reliable as we wanted it to be.

What’s Different Now

For the new website we went back to the drawing board. We reviewed everything, asked for your feedback, and used it to redesign the whole experience. The result is a modern foundry website that puts stability and usability first, while giving you more ways to play with our typefaces and understand how they work.

The layout is fresher and easier to move around, with a lot more focus on your user experience. We’ve also added more resources: A proper FAQ, normal-people-language translation of our EULA, direct OpenType feature descriptions, and soon even articles to help you get the most out of your fonts.

What’s in for You

To proper evaluate a typeface you need to view it live in browser (change my mind). Instead of looking at static images, all our typefaces can be tested right here. We’ve included an extensive type tester, a glyph viewer, and an OpenType feature preview. You can also download full trial fonts (yes, no limitations on glyphs, features or kerning!) so you can try them in your own design tools before making a decision. And of course we’ve also added some type in use to show how our fonts look in context.

(And yes, there are also some nice CSS transitions and effects sprinkled in. Absolutely unnecessary, but they make it a little more fun, ok?)

Under the Hood

Behind the scenes, we’ve partnered with Fontdue (thanks Tom!) to give the site a secure and stable technical foundation. This also means we’re now working with Stripe as our payment partner, so depending on where you are, you’ll probably have more and better payment options.

The checkout process has been completely overhauled. You can now create an account, log back in to redownload purchased fonts and even buy licenses on behalf of your clients. There’s a shared cart and PDF quotes, coupon codes and generally a smoother experience all around.

A Work in Progress

We put a lot of effort and thought into this relaunch, and we hope you enjoy it. That said, not everything may be perfect yet. If you find an error or something that doesn’t work the way it should, please let us know. And while you’re at it, tell us what you like or what you think could be improved. We’d love your feedback.
